Traditional Confirmation in the Archdiocese

Cardiff_Traditional_Confirmation_2014

On Monday 12th May 2014, Archbishop George Stack conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation upon a young boy at Saint Dyfrig’s Church, Treforest. This was the first confirmation to take place in the Extraordinary Form (to my knowledge) since the changes in 1970. Please pray for him, his family and also his sponsor.

LMS Pilgrimage to York

IMG_9326

The Latin Mass Society has produced another short video for you to see, this time of the LMS’s recent annual pilgrimage to York, in honour of St Margaret Clitherow and the York Martyrs.

The day was a great success with glorious weather, a good turnout and a really upbeat atmosphere amongst the pilgrims. We hope the video gives a small flavour of this and encourages you to join us next year.

Pilgrimage to Holywell 2014

The LMS here in the Archdiocese of Cardiff are hoping to arrange a coach this year for the Annual LMS Pilgrimage to Holywell. Unfortunately in the past, this pilgrimage has been poorly attended by the Archdiocese of Cardiff, which is why we had to stop supplying a coach from the South. However, as I have been approached by a few people asking if it would be possible to organise a coach from the Archdiocese I will be willing to make the necessary arrangements. If you would like to go, please send me an email ASAP or click here to send me a message or enter your details into the form ‘Interested in Holywell 2014‘ which is located on the right side of this page (towards the bottom). The final deadline for the coach will be Monday 30th June 2014. If you know anyone who cannot see this information but would like to go, please LET ME KNOW.

A packed lunch will be required.

Business as Usual!

Article from Rorate Caeli

The video below is that of yesterday’s Closing Mass for the Religious Education Congress of the Los Angeles Archdiocese, which took place from March 14 to 16 of this year. Making this Mass even more special was the presence not just of Cardinal Mahony — who had been barred from public duties for all of one day in 2013 before Archbishop Gomez had to retreat — but also of Cardinal Maradiaga, the powerful Coordinator of the Council of Cardinals.

Among other things: lots of dancing, a denuded altar-table for the duration of the “Liturgy of the Word”, a glass plate for the main host, the wine consecrated while still in glass pitchers prominently distributed around the table, baskets for the hosts, the whole congregation singing the doxology at the end of the Eucharistic Prayer. Business as usual … and this year right in the presence of the one of the Holy Father’s most influential advisers.

BE WARNED…

…THIS VIDEO IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART!
